Not too long ago, I shared a post with you guys about creating your own photo back drops! You can see my process and post here. I’ve loved using these gorgeous and super simple backgrounds for all my photos lately. It really makes the quality and creative flare of my photography pop. During the first round, I only made three though and I’ve been on the look out for any more styles that would compliment my blog and ideas. While perusing through Target the other day, I ran into some lovely wrapping paper that I knew I needed as backgrounds. These sheets just couldn’t be passed by. So, I grabbed two more large white dry erase styrofoam boards, my tape and scissors, and of course, my new paper!
This weekend I sat down with all of that, and made two more pretty backdrops. I’m already in love with them and using them for photoshoots for future posts.
Cheers,
— Brey

It was in the one dollar section of target last Christmas season! I actually wrapped most of my gifts in it last year.
They had a ton of similar styles and they sold like hot cakes, so they’ll have to put them back out this Christmas!

I love these ideas. I won’t be able to find the paper in the UK but I’m sure Paperchase will have something similar. By the way, how does one nominate bloggers for the Liebster Award? What is the Liebster Award and is it just for the USA or can we join in too?

So the WordPress Awards (counting the Liebster one) are interesting. I cannot find too much info on them but you get nominated by someone who likes/knows your blog and was nominated as well. They have to choose 10 or so people to nominate, and one could be you. Once you get nominated you’ll have to then nominate people as well.
It’s pretty much just a way to promote other’s blogs and if you got nominated, whoever did, promoted your blog in a sense as well.
It’s definitely not just a USA thing though!
I haven’t taken part in these awards (even though I have been nominated multiple times) because I’ve read once that they are only for blogs with less than 200 followers.

Thank you Brey. Being new to all this, I didn’t realise there were awards (plural)! Is that in any way linked with being ‘pressed’ (another term I’ve come across recently)?

Also another thing that had been confused about for a long time was that even though there are tons of nominations, there is never a winner.
But yes, there’s about 10 other WordPress Awards floating around at the moment (Dragon Loyalty, Beauty Blogger, Sisterhood, etc).
Those are not linked to the freshly pressed Wordpess section. I am not 100% what those are, but from investigating it, that just looks like a section that WordPress has for recent, “popular” blogger’s posts.

Things are a little clearer now, Brey, all thanks to you. I suppose I’ll understand better the more I read and blog!

I am no pro and actually just use my yoga mat often. It’s a pretty purple with a light white flower print and has a little texture. haha
