How to Cut Your Husband’s Hair.

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you guys are having an enjoyable weekend, I know I am. With these gloomy, snuggly days, I’ve felt rejuvenated and well rested. It doesn’t hurt that I’m looking forward to a four day work week coming up, which will be even easier as it’s going to be dedication and spirit week at my school. Hello assemblies and activities, and shorter classes. And then the following week is another four day work week? I’m feeling pretty relaxed and on top of things for once.

Focusing on the here and now though, I’m still pretty happy. This weekend, Drew and I tried something we’ve never done before… I gave him a haircut! We have a some nice hair clippers, with a bunch of different settings, and Drew’s hair was getting a little out of hand. Next thing we knew, I was holding the trimmer in my hand and Drew was sitting like a deer in head lights.

Luckily for me, Drew’s normal haircuts aren’t that complex. Zero on the neck, and a one to two fade everywhere else. I even got fancy and trimmed his bangs with scissors. At the time it seemed daunting but now I know it’s easy as pie.

I have to say, I think I did a pretty darn good job. I faded well, trimmed his bangs and top well. Even got around the ears and neck well. His past few haircuts have been not super great and even borderline bowl cuts, so I’m impressed with myself. I love when Drew’s hair is short, so I’m really excited that I can keep it the length we like more often because money and time won’t be a problem. I did just as well as a $35 barber and now he can get monthly trims for a great price: free!

What are you guys up to this weekend?

Cheers,
— Brey

  1. The haircut looks great! I did hair for 18 years, and I can tell you that it’s not easy to blend/fade that well. You did a fabulous job and should be really proud of yourself!

  2. I think you did a great job as well! I am assuming this was a first-time attempt and with that being the case, you did exceptionally well! Definitely a great way to keep money in you guys’ pockets since this is something you’re mastering. Kudos to you both!

  3. Totally cut my other half’s hair today too! He has a 3 sides and back and the top is about an inch and a half long! It’s fun although I have no idea if I’m actually doing it right lol luckily he can’t see the back … Or behind his ears 😁😁 x

  4. I’ve started cutting my own simply with a #4 all around. So much easier, and the way I used to bitch about how no one could do it how I liked it now I’m the only one responsible for it!

  5. I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair since he went from long to short four years ago. You’ll both get more comfortable as you get more practice!

And are you serious, $35 for a barber?? Maybe it’s because of all the business from the air force base here, but most of our barber shops are still less than $10.

  6. You did a fantastic job, his hair looks great!
I tried two times using buzzers. One on my brother, who had to end up shaving it down completely. And the other on my son, which I think the blades were dull- so it kinda pulled his hair in a not so pleasant way. lol
I learned my lesson, I leave it to the pros. haha

  7. One of the managers at my work keeps a running total of how much money he has saved since investing in clippers to do his own hair! I think he’s down to 15 cents a haircut- paying off the original price of the clippers of course. Hehe. Awesome job, girl! 🙂

  8. I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair for years, and now I cut my boys hair too. The hubby mostly gets the buzzer on long guards, but the boys get scissor cuts. Now I even cut my own hair! I can’t even imagine how much we have saved in the past seven or so years. 🙂
