This was the first full week of work having students in the building and aiding in each day’s lessons. It’s been a rollercoaster so far; one day I came home in tears, one day limping, one day feeling accomplished. But as I wrap up my week today, I have to say, I am confident that this school year will be a good one. At the very least, a memorable one!
My scheduled has been finalized recently and now I have two long back to back study hall blocks where I do nothing but shush and sit. I really prefer not to be on my phone in front of the students, so I was grasping at straws on what I could spend over three straight hours doing. I sighed and concluded that I’d have to drive through traffic to my nearest library and then back a few weeks later and rinse repeat for the whole year. I literally had this train of thought as I stood by the industrial copier machine in our schools library the other day.
I love young adult fiction novels. And there I was surrounded by some of the best, newest, stocked up selections around. Let’s just say I spent my fifteen minute break that day perusing the shelves. Talk about convenience and happiness!
Tomorrow is my first ‘A’ day with my books in hand and three hours of monitoring. I have to say, I’m a little more excited than I should be.
My other hint of happiness: at 4 o’clock today I start my holiday three day weekend! Is it bad that I already feel like I need the extra vacation day?
